figue1, I was wondering if you have a heartrate monitor? Those can be pretty helpful when doing cardio, to give you an idea of where your heartrate is. Keep it up!

Lots of cardio, keep up the good work. Do you plan on including weight trainging in your routine also, or just mainly cardio?

TODAY 06/15/04
Run/walk 60 min Strech - ITB+ calves+hamstrings Hey SAL: Yeah, I'd like to include more weight training as I go. Right now I do minimal resistance training, mainly using only my body, physio balls and elastics. Mainly exercise that I learned in physiotherapy to protect areas that got injured before (shoulders, back, forearms, knees). I am using some light free weights to learn how to keep form and stuff. Honestly, I am a bit scared about bulking up (especially in the legs and arms). Just reading about how some bodybuilders get fat first in order to build big muscles makes me think that if I don't want to bulk up, then it make sense that I should loose most of the fat first, THEN, start defining the muscles. (?) I am trying to define how I want to look, and disecting Oxigen mags to find a body type that I'd be happy with. Then try to find information as to how they achieved that shape. I'm thinking of Margaret Diubaldo, Katie Uter, Kristia Knowles...(hum, that is, if it is at all possible that I COULD achieve half what they did!) Anyway...that's the dilemma right now. Sorry to blah blah blah.

No I don't have a heartrate monitor but I use the ones at the gyms and when I am outside I try to gauge the intensity by paying attention to my breathing. but yeah, it be nice to have that. Lots of things on my list (HR monitor, new SPDs pedals for my bike, an odometer, new shoes) Cheers! You guys are awesome!

You could train for the rest of your life and not look like such and such. I'm not trying to be negative, but just realize you can only change the size of your muscles and not the shape, that's not even mentioning how everyone's body functions differently. Anyway, I hope that didn't some off as me being a [*%#*%*#] at all. Good luck with your journal and hopefully you can incorporate some weight training soon.

I guess I might not have expressed my ideas correctly. What I meant to say is: I would rather look less muscular but still define (ie like a figure contestant, like, say Diubaldo), as opposed to very muscular (ie such as a full on bodybuilder like Lenda Murray). I don't expect to look like a replica of another person.
Good luck with your training journal too Mike.
