It's not because you are a woman. It's because most people can't stand to be offered advice from perfect strangers.

Sorry but I believe you are wrong. I think it all depends on who the advice is coming from. I see guys who are complete strangers asking to spot each other and then offering advice to each other.

Poohbear00 I agree with you completely. I definitely see the guys helping each other out all the time, they ask for advice, spot each other, etc, but I have never once seen any of the guys who have been given advice by a woman take it seriously. I don't even really feel comfortable asking for a spot at the gym if it's a guy since I've had so many imply I shouldn't be lifting heavy anyway. I'll usually seek out the one girl in the gym who lifts before I'll ask a guy.

Your totally right about that machine, i use it since i can lift way more than with dumdbells...I figured that out myself a couple of months ago.
Those guys were loosers anyways. Ive had a women tell me to straigthen my back while i was doing a excercise..and I thanked her for the advice and the form. I just dont understand why people take it like an insult....its like spitting on help ????wtf
Anyawys...they are the ones that are gonna grow slower...so too bad for them

I never give advice in the gym unless someone asks for a couple of reasons.
#1 I am too busy with my own workout to worry about other people
#2 If a person is serious about lifting...he/she will have to find there own way to get better wither it be asking questions, watching others lift, reading books...etc...etc. It's not that I don't want to help others but I don't give advice unless someone asks.

I will take advice or constructive critisism from anyone in the gym as long as they look the part and it's not during my workout. I don't care if the person is male or female. To tell ya they truth...I don't like people trying to give me advice during my workouts. I don't think I've said a single word during my workouts for the past 2 years. If someone wants to give me advice before I start lifting or afterwards, I'm all for it. This why I keep my earphones on full blast and people know not to talk to me when I lift.

There are always exceptions, but there will always be men and women like this at the gym. Nothing wrong with venting about it.

I haven't had any bad experiences like that where I lift (thank goodness!) My partner and I did get a nice compliment from one of the lifters there. He asked my partner to spot while he benched. He told us he only asked us because he saw how hard we worked out and he felt safe with us.
