Howya doin GP? [/ QUOTE ] Been better thats for sure. i have been out for about 2 months now. To make a long story short... I developed tendonitis in my right arm from throwing a football. To treat that my doc did a cortisone injection into the elbow. My dumbass thought it would be a good idea to inject my left elbow as well just b/c i figured there was probably some inflammation there from years and years of heavy lifting and since i was going to be out of the gym from the shot to the right elbow i figured why not inject the left elbow too. Anyway, the cortisone shots irritated the Ulnar Nerve in the cubital tunnel (elbow), yada yada yada, when i started back in the gym the nerve was still irritated from the shots and i just further irritated it from lifting. In particular DB Overhead Extensions caused the most damage, in my left arm the nerve actually popped out of the tunnel on this exercise and was popping across my elbow as i lifted the weight up and down. So, next week i go back to the elbow specialist and get to schedule surgery for both elbows. The left one will be fixed first, i will be casted for 3 weeks and then do 3 weeks of therapy. At some point during the therapy i will have the right elbow operated on and cast it for 3 weeks then rehab for 3 weeks. The procudure is called Cubital Tunnel Release using Anterior Intramuscular Transposition. Basically, the nerve is removed from the cubital tunnel and embedded in a newly created tunnel inside the muscle tissue surrounding your elbow. Sounds fun hugh? You got allot of catching up to do! [/ QUOTE ] I've been noticing that. Scanned through a couple articles and like always, they're top-notch and about a mile over my head. [ QUOTE ] Do you usually do all triceps then go to biceps or mix them up? [/ QUOTE ] I prefer to do tri's then bi's, but I'll mix it up a bit. Next week, I'll be hitting tri's, bi's, tri's, bi's, etc. May superset them, but probably not. As for keeping the moves basic, I need to right now, I'm getting bad enough DOMS; I can't imagine how bad things would hurt if I tried something crazy. [ QUOTE ] nice to see you back! how is your strength holding up compared to before your break? [/ QUOTE ] Thanks SC. I pretty much took the entire fall season off from lifting. I only made it to the gym maybe once or twice a week and then, because of a few injuries, I stopped going for awhile. As far as strength, I'm extremely dissapointed - I really wanted to nail a 500 squat before the next spring season, but that doesn't look like it'll happen. From yesterday's leg workout, I almost fell over with a pitiful 335. Wasn't that strong to begin with so it's frustrating to be backtracking now. -------------- Ok GP, I feel like an *** complaining about injuries I suffered during the season -- can't even imagine what it's like needing surgery on both arms. I'm hoping everything works out the best and you fully recover. I saw the post you made about the elbow injury and read JW's advice. I guess it was more serious then anyone originally thought or was the post something different? Good luck with surgery - hopefully you'll get a good doc for it. [ QUOTE ] LOL! Funny you should mention that. I was thinking of having a Weight Gainer Pro 3000 myself today! Love the name. Just makes it A L L good! [/ QUOTE ] The plan was to have that in place of the usual post workout shake, but I attacked a chinese restaurant for lunch. It's not so much the calories I'm worried about, but I'm still so full I don't even want to cheat. Oh well, there is always Saturday... |

Hey Rugger, good to see you back and starting a new journal. I have been slacking myself for the last couple weeks and will probably be starting a new journal next week to help me get back on track. Good luck with your training.

[/ QUOTE ] i'm with you brother, i will be in the same boat tomorrow. i trained legs tonight for the first time in 2 months. [ QUOTE ] I guess it was more serious then anyone originally thought or was the post something different? [/ QUOTE ] well, my orginial problem was only in my right arm and was a simple case of tendonitis i developed from throwing a football too hard. that was the injury that led to the cortisone shots. you know the story after that.
