Default Cardio

I do HIIT 3x a week. On the days I do lift and do cardio, I do it in the mornings, and lift in the evening/afternoon. I'm curious to know.. I know you should eat a small meal before lifting, but does the same apply to cardio? If so, what should I have before I do cardio, and how long should I wait before starting my cardio? Thanks

You should wait 2-3 hours after eating to do cardio.

I think you should have something like a baked potatoe for the carbs and some meat. Chicken, turkey... anything high in protein.

Hey, Relinquished.

I usually have oats and whey before HIIT. Like Bomb mentioned, I wait about two hours for it to digest and then I begin my session.

When I am doing high-intensity cardio I treat it like a mini-workout. About 20 minutes before I have a shake with 1/2 scoop whey, 15g of high GI carb (in powdered form of course) and 5g of glutamine. I have the same thing immediately afterwards, but I am also add 5g of creatine. About 30 minutes after that shake I will have a regular meal with low GI carbs and lean meat.

Now, unless your are doing high-intensity stuff I don't know if this would be a good idea. More and more studies are showing though that brief, high-intensity cardio can not only help you shed fat but also build muscle!
