I saw my "friend" at the gym this morning - he approached me again for advice. This time, I was prepared. I handed him pictures of what I USED to look like and explained where I've come from and where I am going in terms of my fitness. I pointed to each exercise and the strength gains I've made in a year, what my bodyfat % is now compared to before and how my eating habits have changed. I also explained to him that if I lost 10-15 pounds I would lose that strength and most likely start losing muscle mass - and that would be going backwards for me. I am trying to GAIIN muscle - and maybe in the process lose some bodyfat - and that losing "weight" is not my ultimate goal. Being healthy, buff and self confident is what I am striving for. He smiled and said "well, you look great" and said if I need any help with spotting or any questions, he'd be happy to help. What do you think - is the way I handled that politically correct?

Thanks Yu...'preciate that. I got tired of feeling sorry for myself and realized - hey, this guy has no idea from whence I came - so it was powerful to me to show him where I've been and where I am at and explain where I want to be. And you're right - now that I've gotten that elephant off my shoulders, I feel that I can approach my new "friend" for help - and we can both understand where we're coming from.

you did the right thing, some women (pregnant women in particular, around 5 months or so) seem to just "go off" on people for no apparent reason.

lol...well, I am a non confrontation type of gal - I hold it in until it gets the best of me - that's why this site is so fantastic. Everyone's advice and encouragement helped me to sort out everything until I could approach him in a logical way. If I didn't have this site to vent I probably would have ended up switching gyms!
