I was coming back from the gym at about 7:45am this morning and I saw one of my (42) roommates waiting to cross the street (she was going to class). It was clear I had just come back from the gym and her eyes lit up in amazement...as we pass each other mid-street she looks at me and grins and (in a playful way) teased me for being crazy for waking up so early and working out!
This is the same girl who just the night before was whining about how she needed to go on a diet because her clothes weren't fitting her anymore. To which another girl just sighed and said "I'm not even trying to diet right now, it's impossible in school." More trivial conversation about diets and working out ensued, but I'll spare you... I wanted to laugh, but I kept myself under control. I wake up at 6am during the week on lifting days. I workout 4 out of every 5 days, on lifting days anywhere from 45 minutes - 1.5 hours and cardio days for usually around 25 minutes. I eat five-six times a day (preparing all of my meals in between the cooks at my cooperative). It's called FINDING THE TIME. It's called having PRIORITIES. But, yeah, I guess working out is IMPOSSIBLE. *Ender rolls her eyes* |

everybody says they are going to diet and workout, but only the ones who have some dedication can make it. i don't know how many people i have tried to help write diets for, just keeping it very simple, and they can't do it because it's "too much work." well...news flash...it ain't gonna be easy!
hell, if they're surprised that you go to the gym so early, tell them what kinds of hardcore things u do in the gym, then they'd be really surprised!

So true!!! If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that.....
Definately if you tell them what sort of hardcore stuff you do in the gym...they'd be totally freaked! One time I was invited to use one of my co-worker's gyms...he needed me to donate 20mins of cardio time for a team contest he was involved in...afterwards we trained together in the weight room. He still tells about how hardcore I am and that he'd be afraid to train with me everyday because he's not sure that he'd be able to keep up... You keep going girl!! Show what it's all about and soon they'll be wishing that they followed! Meow!

Oh yeah...they all think I'm nuts because I lift. Newsflash: Benching and squating and deadlifting ain't just for boys! But they don't listen. Oh well...not my problem, eh?
It's funny how people don't take your advice. I get that too, although people actually listen to me know (I guess since they see all the results that I've been getting). Maybe it's too slow for them. I've been working out for seven months...I still have work to do, but the patience game has been working. Too bad my patience has waned for everyone else. A look says a thousand words !
Sounds like the message hit home. People who go to the gym are busy people too - It is about prioritising and making time. |

[/ QUOTE ] Oh boy, in my college gym, there are five girls that are either on the track team or the basketball team, and they squat, deadlift, and do leg presses. Response to one of those (42) roommates:
Shoulder shrugs and raise forearms with palms facing up. "What-evah...." *yawns at roommate and goes for well-deserved sleep to build more muscle*
