This should probably go in the nutrition section, but I like it here.
Anyway, lately I’ve been having problems eating as clean as I had been. I read Elle’s post on her super hungry day and President Wilson’s advise to increase her calories. I’ve been training intensely for about nine months now, and I’ve had to increase my calories once before when my workouts began to suffer. It has been drummed into our heads that to lose weight we have to cut calories, so the notion that to continue to see gains in your physical conditioning you actually have to increase calories as your body changes is still a revelation, and sometimes difficult to remember. I agree. I still have a little tiny voice in the back of my head that says, "Whoa!! That's a lot of calories. That's TOO many calories. Cut back!! Cut back!!!"
I mostly ignore it and I'm sure over time it'll go away. |

Today I started my bulk and I'm 150lb starting with 3000 cals and increasing every week. It is really hard to eat 3000 calories of nutritious food (I cant even eat a cup of oatmeal and thats only 300) however eating lots of protein and nutritious food will go directly into building hard muscle.

Hi, Venom, thanks for the response.
Well since I’ve been on a twenty-year bulk, cutting for the past nine months hasn’t been that bad. I’ve lost body fat from my stomach and 4” from my waist. I gave myself 3 years to reach my goals this time, because I’ve done it fast before and the results never lasted. This time though it’s sooo slow, I know it will last because I’ve changed my old bad habits. My concern is just eating enough calories to fuel my workouts, maintain the muscle I have yet still lose body fat. I haven’t yet decided if I want to put on more muscle mass then I have now. I was at 2000 calories for about three months, but that was too low for me, so I increased it to 2200, which is where I was until last week. This past week I increased my calories and also changed from 40, 30, 30 to 40, 25, 35. p,c,f. I’m also increasing the intensity of my cardio. So we shall see what happens. The saga continues! M

Sounds good. Tell me how things go, and if you want any critiques.
