Default Help - I\'m SO tired!

Has anyone noticed they get VERY tired when changing their diet? I switched to a 40/30/30, today is day 3 and I am still SO tired!! carbs are WAY lower now and gone is the pepsi so I am hoping this goes away before I give in and buy a pepsi!!

I'd say check out your iron and protein intake. Also, if you are doing cardio, you must be kind with your cardio intake, like starchy veggies.

I use to be a Pepsi addict, and let me tell you it was really hard to give up. But it can be done. I am also doing 40, 30, 30, and when I lowered my carbs I also experienced little tiredness. I can suggest that you eat some starchy carb for your first 4 meals. Rice, potato, oatmeal, etc. Also drink some green tea, it might give you a boost without the sugar.

Green tea is a good way to give you a little energy. As for the diet, I know the feeling. Whenever I dip my carbs down low, I feel it. I am more irritable, exhausted, cranky, hungry, and sometimes I almost get depressed! I have learned to anticipate this and just prepare for it by trying to allow myself more relaxation time at night (hard to find time for that, I know!)The feeling will eventually subside a bit, but don't keep up the low-carb thing for a long period of time as you don't want your body to become carb-sensitive permanently.

It will take maybe a good week for your body to adapt.

I almost passed out in a meeting about 2 months ago while carb cycling, it was a low carb day...

Hi Amy-
IMHO It's probably the Pepsi. When I first cut out sugar & caffiene, it took me a week to feel not so tired. Hang in there and get some starchy veggies they'll help!
Feel better!

Is 30% carbs consirered LOW carb? I know my protein intake is fine - Monday I had 215 grams and I weigh 146. Cardio has been light this week so far, only 20 minutes. Carbs are kinda starchy - lots of potatoes, oatmeal this morning.

the terms low carb and high protein are both relative.

normally I would say that your carb intake is on the high side, but with 6 kids I'm sure you are not doing to much sitting anymore !

a person at your weight and bf with a desk job taking in 215 grams of carbs I would say is taking in to many. I'm "low-carbing" right now taking in around 150 grams/day with a desk job...
