are sore breasts a sign of being pregnant?

Im not a female, so cant give you an exact answer, but I know that some girls get sore breasts as they are nearing their period.

Never been pregnant, but I've been sore a lot of times. I think it depends if the person has had soreness happen before or if it's a new thing. Some of my friends complained of soreness when they were pregnant, some didn't. There could be a lot of stuff affecting em, so it really depends on the individual. If soreness has never been a problem in the past though it may be a sign to look into what's doing it.

Yes it can be a sign of pregnancy. It can also be a sign that a womans period is about to start.
My wifes were very sore in the early months of prgnancy and then after as her milk was coming in.

Yes, but that does not neccessarily mean she is. Unfortunatly many of the same symptoms of PMS also accompany early pregnancy. Keep us posted, you have my interested peaked!

her period is 2 weeks away though. and she is on the pill and has been for 5 years

Doesn't matter if she's on the pill btw. I've been on the pill since the age of 18 and still, for some unknown reason, my breasts will get sore every once in a while, normally right before that time of the month, and I've never been pregnant.
