I am interested in what kind of carbs are you eating? I may go in the direction you are in. So far, I have accomplished kicking the junk food ........! I feel much better. Then, eating every 2.5- 3 hours (hungry!) I'm on Fit Day-thats good. So what kind of carbs and when do you eat them? I'm starving right before bed, I'm drinking a protein (almost no carb). What do you think? I'm eating clean and lifing to grow! On the 24 workout mass blitz-wk 2!! Cardio 2 days a week, my own verison of HITT.

afolov said: Just by looking at your yesterday's entry: Calories eaten: 1691 Calories burned: 2603 I see a big problem there. [/ QUOTE ] Oops! You're right. I forgot to add the salad I ate before I went to bed. That brings the total to 1952 cals eaten. And I didn't add in my activities, either. That's what fitday calculated just from lifestyle and current bodyweight. Seems kinda high to me, cuz when I used Jacob's method for figuring my maintenance cals it came out to between 2100 and 2200. What do you think? |

I am more trustful of Jacob's methods of calculation than that of Fitday. And if your maintance is around 2200, then ~1700 cals (i.e. pre-salad) should be pretty correct. Try upping the protein just a bit, and dropping the carbs for a week.

well, on low carb days i compensate with more protein and maybe more olive oil on the salad. but, yes. if you cycle your carbs you also cycle your calorie intake. it's all about keeping your body guessing.
i agree on the cardio. you can do some more no problem. what i do precontest is one high intensity in the morning, one in the evening. both last for about 20-30 minutes. this of course sucks if you dont have some cardio equipment at home. but you can always run outside. eat all your starchy carbs until like 4 pm. after that only fibrous. i do figure competitions. i have three coming up in summer and i'm planning on doing one or two in fall in the states (my husband is american). the dieting is not so hard for me. i have to lose weight/fat for a show, that's the deal. sure it sucks sometimes but i love being up on stage. i have to say appetite control is not a big problem for me, since i eat so regularly. its more the cravings. i start to talk to haribo gummy bears in the grocery store and stuff like that. dream about pizza and bounty bars. weird. but what helps for appetite control is stuff like hydroxycut or universal animal cuts. they make you burn too. and then i have to admit that i'm a TOTAL diet coke junkie. i'm drinking the stuff like every waking hour.... |

GoMom,
I start every day with my oatmeal/protein powder/nat PB concoction and some coffee. I've weaned myself from the full fat/ full sugar cappuccino's at the convenience stores to regular coffee with FF coffeemate and splenda. I do the gatorade/ protein combo post workout for the insulin spike. As I said, I was also eating a sweet potato every day for lunch (meal 3 or 4) but I've tried to cut that out because it was pushing my carbs too high. The rest is salad or fibrous veggies (I buy the frozen mixes in bulk at BJ's and heat them in the microwave several times a day). I've actually cut out all breads for the past few weeks, and I could live in a potato chip factory and never eat one! I am prone to giving in to the "just one bite" game when faced with cookies/donuts/candy at work- I try not to have them in my house. And, no, I'm definitely not drinking enough water, and I drink too much diet Coke. There was a time when I was really religious about my water intake but I was CONSTANTLY going to the bathroom. Even my kids said, "Mom, you gotta stop drinking so much, this is ridiculous!" . I have given up alcohol altogether and I was really hoping to see some good results from that. Not that I was an alcoholic, but one or two glasses of wine at dinner every day really adds up and it was an easy cut of 100-150 cals/day! |

pasha said: well, on low carb days i compensate with more protein... [/ QUOTE ] Not such a good idea. Almost half the protein will be converted to glucose (or some other type of sugar, my memory escapes me). You'd be much better off keeping your protein the same, and compensating for the dropped calories by adding some fats into your diet.

Hehehe...I can relate on the water thing. In high school, for some reason I thought these 24 oz water bottles were 12 oz or something screwy like that (I was tired when I was working out how many i should drink). I had to pee every five seconds for three days until I realized where I went wrong! You have to up your intake slowly. Course for me it doesn't matter so much cuz I always have to pee every hour or so. I have a baby bladder!
