Just a curiousity....why is it that for leg extension I can push 90-100lbs on the machine and yet for lying leg curls I can pull 60lbs? Is this unusual to have such a difference in strength from the quads to the hams? Should I be concerned? Do I need to tweek hams a little more? Or is it a simple matter of muscle fatigue, since these two exercises are being done at the end of my leg routine, and maybe hams have already been hit hard during other exercises? Anyone got any insight in this matter? My leg routine is posted in training journal if needed for reference....

There is no problem. Think about the hamstring as the leg "bicep". Just as you can push more weight with the triceps than bicep. You can extend the quadriceps with more force than you can shorten the hamstring muscle...

Hey girl, you may want to begin training your hams at the beginning of your leg routine when they are the strongest and also consider prioritizing hamstrings on their own day.
I train quads on Monday (adding a few ham movements at the end) and Hamstrings on Thursday (adding quad moves at the end) Try adding curls at different angles: standing, singles, lying, seated and also dead lifts and good mornings are nice additions to your training. In addition, nothing beats the squats, parallel or below, to help bring up the lagging back end and strengthen the hamstring/glutes. good luck. margie

Hey Sicily!! Thanks for the added tips...gonna check out list of exercises for hams...see if I can learn a new trick or two!
If I train hams and quads on different days how would my split look, just for example? Like, bi's tri's and quads one day, shouilders chest the next and back, abs and hams? Just curious how I would set that up? Thx ;-)
