i was just wondering what others have as a pre-workout snack, if you have a snack. i usually have an energy bar 1 hour b/4 my workout. just looking for other ideas and more variety.

I eat 5-6 meals a day, every 2 1/2 to 3 hours apart so I really don't snack persay, since there's no need if you're eating balanced (with protein, carbohydrates, and fat) meals every few hours. And since I'm trying to keep my body fat low, I don't eat much of any carbs before I work out but rather after to replenish the glycogen (stored sugar) in my muscles to fuel muscle growth/repair. However, before any speed skating competitions I do make sure I eat some carbs before I compete, which usually consists of something like a banana and slow cooking oatmeal.

i try to eat 5 meals a day myself and the "snack/energy bar" i referred to i count as one of those meals. slow cooked oats... i will have to try that. thanks!

I weight train early in the morning straight after jumped out of bed. I cannot train with anything heavy in the tummy so a protein shake with water is all that I have.
