cable rows seem to work fine, didnt hurt my neck at all yesterday.

Low rows, diverging rows, all work fine. Anything not higher than chest level seems fine.

Anything "over the head pull" is to avoid for me I guess.

Feeling better now. Doesnt hurt anymore.

Not sure how bending over 90 degrees would destroy your back when all you would be doing would be leaning over completely supported by the table but if you see it this way than you misinterpreted my description.
