For those whose energy systems are ready for it, intermittent fasting can be an effective way to regulate your body and give the gut a chance to recover. Our bodies weren't meant to be constantly full of food and the 5+ meals a day many bodybuilders follow just contributes to pancreatic dysfunction and a gut that doesn't get a chance to unload. I've tried it myself and felt better than I ever have, I just can't do it much at the moment because of my schedule.

I use it all the time. I donít think we were made at all to eat constantly. We are hunters and gatherers and just because we have grocery stores I donít think that part of us should change IMO.

I support IF not for the sake of limiting your eating in a fixed "window" but for the sake of unloading your mind and body from the nonsense of eating every 2-3 hours. Maybe, it is better for professional bodybuilders to eat very often, in order to cover their insane caloric demands and support growth, but for the regular person this isn't practical at all. Bang for the buck, IF is better suited for me. It's important to note, that this approach isn't good for people with eating disorders and negative connection with food, cuz it can trigger binge eating and other problems.

Now before my low back went out on me, I use to eat like this. I got to tell you it was hard trying to keep up with meals working 40 hrs a week and making sure I have workout time each night. I will not be doing this anymore because of what you stated about the gut. I had one that my friends could see me coming one block away and they could lock the door so I couldn't visit.

I've been trying a hybrid between IF and T-Nation Pulse Fast. I like it thus far, I've been doing it for a few months.
