Default Cortisol Levels

Some may know that sleep and not being stressed can lower your cortisol levels. (cortisol helps to store fat). Does anybody know of any other ways of lowering the cortisol level.

Thanks,
Ant

Avoiding caffiene, alcohol and tobacco is important as all of those raise cortisol significantly if consumed regularly.

In addition to sleep and exercise, meditation is very effective, and simply worrying about things increases cortisol so trying to have a positive outlook will help.

Otherwise there are many supplements that reduce it - high dose vitamin c, phosphatidyl serine, zinc, b complex vitamins, alpha lipoic acid, grape seed extract, green tea extract... many trace minerals have a minor cortisol lowering effect too.

i will also say that when studies look at coritsol you have to keep in mind that this is a hormone that is VERY VERY VERY variable from person to person...it is not uncommon to have 5 people do the same exercise and elicit 5 different cortisol responses
