You wouldn't call Liddel technical striker?! He is the quintessential, not to mention wildly popular, counter-striker. He leads the pace with heavy 1-2's while he waits for a mistake and then explodes. Man, have you watched his fights?! Every KO starts with him slipping, bobbing, or coming over the top of an opponent's strike.
One of my favorites was against unforunately one of my favorite fighters, Sobral. In their second fight when Sobral hit him once or twice, Liddell starts back-pedaling like he's being overwhelmed, Sobral charges in, and the out of nowhere Liddell plants his back foot and just rocks Sobral with an uppercut from hell. It was beautiful. http://mmavideolinks.to/fighter-vide...-sobral-2.html |

very good point Mav...and great video...and i am honestly not even near the fight analyst you and the others on here are...in fact i just call my predictions on my gut instinct and on pure emotion (LESNAR BABY)...lol my gut is telling me to go with Jardine...although as my record shows...i've been wrong before...so i'll make that prediction now...my mind says Jackson...my gut says Jardine
Jardine over Jackson

That's exactly what I'm saying, look at those opponents:
- wrecking machines with little restraint: alexander, silva - techincal fighters: griffin, liddell, vera though rampage is turning himself into a much more complete and well-rounded fighter since his overly-agressive pride days, I'd still put him in the wrecking machine category which equals trouvle for jardine. Anyone familiar with the "crazy monkey" defense he uses, its great against aggressive strikers? I love it, and it DIRECTLY led to him dispatching Wand. Here's an example of him using it in Pride: ![]() Except in the UFC he followed it up with a left hook and put Wand out. |

I guess I have a different view on the word technical. I think Liddell is sloppy and i think he sucks. just my opinion. I would consider Griffin and vera technical but not liddell.

OK, "technical" is a stretch, I will admit. But he is not a typical bruiser, like wand or alexander, he is a counter-striker. He will lead the pace with heavy hands, but his finest moments are invariably from precise (and devastating) counter-striking.
BTW, this is coming from a guy who's all-time favorite fighter is wand and I've never really been that big a fan of Liddell's. On a separate note, how embarrassingly one-dimensional was Stevenson's game last weekend?! |

ill agree, if I had to pick if Liddell was a technical striker or aggressive I would pick aggressive but hes not like most aggressive fighters. He waits, until you slip up. Maybe hes a good blend of the two.
Stevenson is pathetic. Lets punch or go for a guillotine, I can do nothing more.

On another note, Rampage defeats Jardine via TKO or unanimous decision, which will set up Rampage vs Evans for the title. Rampage was in la la land and didn't even seriously train for the Griffin fight. He learned his lesson and will definitely be ready for Jardine's leg kicks. Also: Dana has said if Rampage loses, Machida gets the immediate title shot. If not, Machida will be facing Rampage for the title this year. Last edited by misterjaydubyoo; 02-24-2009 at 02:35 PM. |

If your opinion who has the best chance in the light heavyweight division to beat Machida? This is a hard call for me because I haven't seen one person come close to figuring this guy out and he seems to improve every fight.
