if she is losing weight/fat while she is doing ab work, then yes, she could lose them. it consists of fat-that is what it is. tips for gaining weight...eat, lots and lots of healthy food... maybe some p/c meals for breakfast, before workouts, after workouts, then in the afternoon, some p/f(a great way to get extra cals in) meals. in order to gain she would need to be in a calorie excess. i would multiply her bodyweight x15, if she doesn't gain in a week, then add 200 cals until she starts gaining. i would not do alot of cardio-2x's a week max when trying to put on size...
