My girlfriend is just beginning to use weights along with her cardio workout. I was wondering is it was best for her to start off with a 3 day a week circuit training routine, or to devote a day a week to a body part. She is not looking to put on much muscle, but rather to tighten and tone up. Thank you in advance.

Although either would work, I would suggest a full body routine two to three times a week. I would also recommend that she change the exercises about every four weeks. Otherwise, her body will begin to adapt and her goals would become harder to reach. One of the keys to any workout is variety.
