I have not tried the cottage cheese pre-bed. By that do you mean eating it right before I go to bed? I sometimes have cottage cheese as a snack through out the day but I have not done it before bed.

Yes, you have cottage cheese before bed. If you are taking ZMA, have the ZMA around 45 minutes prior to the CC. This will allow it to be absorbed into your system since the calcium in the CC will compete with the zinc. The CC is a great source of casein, which is a slower digesting protein source. Thus it is optimal for a pre-sleep meal as it will take longer for your body to digest it.
