Thanks Brad and SC...
I've been playing and practicing, but I haven't really worked out for awhile. Figured my legs are a bit undersized as it is so I wouldn't mess with the upper body at all either. Also thought the time out of the gym would make me more anxious to get back at it, but it's had the opposite effect. I have more free time now and with the weather getting nicer, it's going to be hard to get in there. Going to try squatting tonight, but I'm guessing it'll be an embarrassing effort. Just hoping I can rep with a decent weight and experience no pain or discomfort. |

Thanks SC!
As far as the season is going, well, I've been playing very well; however, it's a team sport and as a whole we haven't been doing so hot. There are a few great players, but some gaps here and there in talent/experience and *bam*, all of a sudden your losing... Hard to win games when your down by 3 or 4 tries at halftime. We've come back a few times, but still end up losing. Wouldn't be so bad but it's even hard to get a full side for every game. Last tournament we went to, we only had 13 guys for the first game and 12 guys after that. Had to walk around getting random players from other teams. Gets to be a long weekend when you have to play every minute of every game. Anyway, season is half over and we are 1-3-1. Will probably lose the next game (missing two of the better players - the captain and the player-coach). The one after that looks iffy, and the final should be a win. However, it's very possible we end up losing all three. As far as lifting went, I was able to squat on Monday. Three set of 315 for about 10 reps each set - went a bit past parallel. Did some other things as well but mainly focused on my hamstrings. Had trouble with leg extensions, but was able to get my *** to the floor using that weird leg thing for bodyweight squats. There was no pain so I'm hoping I'll be golden by next week. I've lost 11 pounds so far this season as well. Not happy about that because it was so hard to gain in the first place. I'm assuming most of it was water, but I tried putting on a weight belt the Monday and even on the last notch, it wasn't very tight. I've always used the last notch, but usually I gotta suck in my stomach to get it there. Anyway, after next week, I'll be able to hit the gym hard barring injury during the next game. I'll probably start up on creatine then just to get an extra boost in weight for the last two games. It's generally good for a 5-6 pound gain in water weight after the loading period. |
