Ok, if you gals remember, I talked about this bb trainer at my gym before. He was advising me today to go hi-reps again. This time he recommended anything from 15-40 reps, good for cutting. His reasoning was that inner muscle fibres need to be worked and can only be worked at hi reps and lighter weights so as to get rid of the fat there. He said low reps (8-10) build outer muscle fibres and if inner muscles are not worked, a person will still contain quite a bit of fat.
Wellllll, I can only agree as far as 15-20 reps for hi reps and if I go any higher, I'd imagine it's for shocking, like the Austrian blitz. I am skeptical about using it EVERY time. The thing that I'm not so sure about is the innner and outer muscle fibres. Is it nonsense? I won't elaborate on other things he said about how females respond differently to men when going heavier (like gaining fatty muscles) cos we ALL know muscles ARE muslces. But what about the inner and outer thingy?

I think you found a dork! Fatty muscle is caused by lifting heavy? That's a good one. Maybe we should hook him up with the idiot trainer I had! LOL!!

Maybe he's talking about deep muscle fibers?
I wouldn't recommend that high a number. The soleus is about 90% slow twich so high reps are advisable. But 15-40 for everything is rediculous. I'd concentrate on diet to get rid of fat, not high reps.

Yeah, I read this piece some time ago, OldSchool. Thanks for directing! cos I remembered reading something like that before but just couldn't be sure which article it was. It was a good read but I'll have to go through it again to remember.
