I've noticed when I'm very clean on diet and good about getting my workouts in, (even if I haven't lost fat, inches, weight) the fat around my middle just feels mushier, not as firm. Is my mind just playing tricks on me or does anyone else notice this? It is sort of like right after I delivered (one of my many) childern. The whole stomach area was just soft, but as my body got back to normal, the fat seemed to get more solid. Now it's like it's going the other way. Am I crazy? I've been feeling like that myself. Wondering if this little paunch is going to go away. Sometimes I think it just seems mushier because everything else is getting firmer.
P.S. I'm from you neck of the woods. Gardner, KS

When you lose a bit of fat, your skin can feel a bit looser because it no longer has that fat to pad it out. (I've heard it being referred to as a "fat whoosh!".) If you don't gain that fat back, your skin will tighten up after a while and you'll be able to see more of the muscle underneath.

I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone here know if tummy fat turning to mushy fat means that the fat is going away or coming on. Is it a sign?
I've read about different types of fat but this might be a question of gaining or losing. I've seen some over fat people whose fat seemed hard as a rock thick, tight. I, however, have this mushy, spare tube around my middle. Are we losing?

I can't answer your question but what I can tell you is that the more I workout the more I actually look at myself in the mirror and I think that even with all of the positive changes I see, I get pickier and pickier about the things that bother me.
Sometimes I think I was better off when I never looked at myself naked! |

( ok I'm not a chick BUT .... ) I notice this everytime I start hitting the weights again in my cycle .... It first starts to soften and be more jiggly ... Eventually it lessens even more ....
My perosnal theory is that it's the Fat beneath the skin " Thinning out " becoming less Taught and less mass and as said above , as your skin shrinks to compensate the flabbiness will continue to dwindle .... So to me it's a good sign
