Good Morning Gentlemen!!
I am glad to say that I am the first to female to post in "our" new forum!!! First order of the day: I have a friend who trains very hard nearly every day. She is in the process of trying to drop some body fat and was told by her trainer to NOT eat following her evening workouts because that would speed up her weight loss efforts. Now...i've always been one to consume some form of protein rich carb meal following my workout. Not high calorie..just something to replenish my stores. Plus i'm always starving after my workouts. Beyond that, I think i've read that this is most beneficial in every magazine and heard it from every trainer on the planet!!! Who's right? Can she infact lose muscle by not eating following her workout? (its the last thing she does each evening...so she's sleeping on an empty stomach) This has been going on for a week now. margie

I did that for years..... Not eating after late night work out. I was simply not hungry (I'm a morning person!). Anyway I had my fencing lessons quite late in the evenings three days a week so when I came back home around 11pm I really just felt like jumping in bed. Of course I hoped to loose some fat in the same time.
What I achieved was a VERY bad recuperation and absolutely no fat loss. I wont recommend not to eat after late night training, since your body need the nutritions to recover (and you'll also need some energy to burn fat!!). If she doesn't really feel like eating then simply take a shake with some proteins and a little carb.

That's what i told her.
She's a bit hard headed and i think she wants to at least give her trainer the benefit of the doubt....i told her to find a new one! lol! But anyway..live and learn. Hopefully she won't lose any muscle in the process and she'll figure out that she really does need that extra boost to reach her goals.

I would definitely eat after a workout even in the late evening. Heck I eat right before I go to bed sometimes and I have had lots of success at losing fat. It's just a matter of eating the proper foods. After working out is when your muscles are in a catabolic state and are the most sensitive to insulin so any fat storage would be far fetched especially if you ARE eating the right foods. I believe that if you don't feed your body when it needs it most, it will only end up rebelling against you. I really think it would actually thwart your fat burning efforts if you were to keep from refueling it after workouts. It's like you would stay in a catabolic mode so in essence the body would just keep feeding off it's muscle which is exactly what you DON'T want cause the muscle is what does the fat burning! Feed your muscles and you keep the fat burning going. That's my 2 cents.

I absolutely think that the additional of the women's forum would not only gain women to participate but also where they can go and relate themselves. I'm not saying that women are not meant to be bodybuilders but I feel like a lot of women of the boards are intimidated to post because most of the members are guys. They're not posting as much as they would want to and this is where this forum comes in.
I think that this is a bright idea and a great addition to this already wonderful site. Great job. Ladies its time to post!!!
