I keep a rough count of GRAMS not calories.

I try to get -

40/30-40/20-30 P/C/F per meal (varies on time of day)

Get into the habit of counting because it helps a lot. There is a good site called fitday.com where you can enter a journal and it gives you the food values and adds them up for you. It has been very helpful for me so far.

I used to keep a comnprehensive nutrition log of protein, carb and fat grams as well as calories. But I have done it for so long and can now do it without writing anything down. My fiancee hates it because I can look at a plateful of food and tell her exactly how many cals etc...drives her nuts when we go out to eat.

counting calories and tracking your macros (macronutrients) is essential in this sport if you want to make the best gains. diet is 70-80% of this sport, going to the gym is the easy part...

join up at fitday.com it makes it very easy. it takes a lot of food when eating clean as healthy foods are not calorie dense (with the exception of good fats)...
