You don't need an alternative to jogging, you need an entire switch in how you think.
Jogging is part of the mind set that you have to do "cardio" to get lean.
You need to change your mindset to getting lean with your diet.
There is one more aspect to getting lean, and that is retaining muscle. When you are in a caloric deficit in an attempt to get lean/lose fat, you must give your body a reason to KEEP the muscle while LOSING the fat, otherwise, you will not be happy with your results.
Therefore, it is wise to lift weights. This tells your body to keep the muscle and the fact that you are eating less and eating smart tells your body to lose the fat.
You DON'T need an alternative to jogging. You need a fresh perspective.
Eat right and lift weights.
If you absolutely feel like you must do something else, please don't go overboard. And pick something that is more conducive to keeping muscle such as: sprinting, pushing/pulling a sled, dumbbell swings, barbell complex, farmer's walks, or battle ropes.
