i personally think that the affects of having a some edamame at a sushi restraunt, or some soy nuts occasionally would be very slim. Soy , or even soy oil, can be found in so many foods now, it'd be quite an effort to avoid it altogether, with not much benefit since there are both those for/against it.
i'd say if you want to rid something entirely then consider trans-fats, something that is indisputably/egregiously bad for you
