You're working your core which is really more important in sports than most people think, especially for lineman(don't know what you intend on playing). For your abs dont do the BW reps, weigh yourself down with a fat old 40 pound dumbell and go, treat it like all other mucles but with less sets, no more than 3 should be fine.
BTW what level are you trying to play at? From reading your post on your class schedule I'm thinking your in college. If you're playing in college what division???
