obama is president!!!
Really excited to see this. Huge historical moment seeing first African American president. I think he will make some great changes during his reign.

His election definitely broke a few records/trends. I think the most telling and important thing when it comes to race is looking at the post voting poll and looking at how little of the population indicated that race was an issue for them.
I think it will definitely be an interesting 4-8 years. Especially since I'll be avoiding my conservative father for the next 4-8 years to avoid his complaining lol... |
i'm still waiting on the next election. like he said this shows anyone can get into office. so i'm starting the arnold campaign now lol

Great news!

Congrats OBAMA!
McCains exit speech in Arizona was really good.. |
i am usually very optimistic..but i cannot help but be pessimistic about this one...being a military man and having gone over seas twice and seeing some of the progress and what is going on, i dont think obamas plan will work..i think if we leave now, all progress will be lost and we will eventually be back over there..it needs a little more time..also, about his "spreading the wealth" plan...can you say socialism??? i by no means make a lot of money, but if i did..id want to keep it..standardizing healthcare is also rediculous..what ever happened to hard work and working for the "american dream"?? it sounds like obama just wants to give handouts..i think people need to work for what they want

bigbear - read up on microeconomics, market failures and oligopolies in particular. A free market does not always work, and that's why the government is there.
As for Obama being a socialist - it's ridiculous. Compared to the system we have in Sweden (which happens to be one of the most democratic countries in the world), Obama's politics would be far, far to the right of our most right parties (well, maybe exept for one, due to them being racists). By the way, Venom: strange, I always though of you as more of a republican/conservatist. |
As a conservative, I am disappointed. McCain was not the ideal candidate to me, but was far more appealing than Obama's socialist tendencies. Furthermore, the pro-life movement will be hard hit by this election as well.
However, as a Christian, I am at peace because God is sovereign and I know he has a plan. |

I think Obama is a great moderate-liberal to have in office. I think he is going to make decisions that are right for America and won't push through a very liberal agenda. |

Obama does not have "socialist tendencies," he has a prescription for America's ailing. It is a far, far cry from socialism. But in reality, nothing will really change... it never does. He won't follow through on all of his promises, but then again, who does? His cabinet will be moderately democratic, and he is a smart man who will make decisions in the best-interest of the country, not just in the best interest of his "liberal socialist agenda." |
