A nutritional and bodybuilding guidepost
As far as I can understand with bodybuilding - we are talking about molecules here. Yes at the molecular and even atomic level this sport, this pastime, this lifestyle, and even the pure enjoyment and professional occupation that is made of it happens and is a study and strategic control of the molecules that make up our own biochemistry.
Now if we can see the molecules, then anyone and everyone would say "Yes, you can move this here and that there and combine these and these and you will have this desired result." Yet here we cannot see the individual molecule that is the focus of this activity, and what keeps us learning and gaining knowledge and moving forward in our bodybuilding undertaking to or calling to. No, we cannot see one with our eyes, but we can believe and see with our minds.
Yet a basketball player can see his teammates and the ball and the physical goal, and he can see his opponents and their team and the defending goal with his eyes, yet a bodybuilder cannot see his goal with his eyes.
Or can he or she?
Can he see the molecule of protein and the amount of heat and oxygen required for protein synthesis to occur within the muscle?
Can he see the molecules of insulin coming out to break down the sugars that are about to be stored into the fat cells of the body?
A baseball player can see the diamond and the bases and the course to homeplate, and the outfield wall - he can see his opponents on the field and the baseball which he is to strike in the pitcher's hand.
But the bodybuilder cannot see the indivual object that he is to strike or the positioning of the defense that he is to penetrate with his eyes.
Or can he or she?
Can he see a molecule of carbohydrate being burned to generate heat and energy to lift the weights?
Can he see the molecules of water cooling down the more excited and heated molecule to maintain body core temperature?
How can this be that our eye cannot see something, yet our mind can conceive of it, sensse it, and even know how to control and utilize it?
"Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."JOHN20:29
Now for the beginning bodybuilder, the competition is very fierce and intimidating. As long as there are muscle mags and supplement advertisers, the bodybuilder sees with his eyes what has been the result of a man or woman's research, education, training, knowledge and understanding. A beginning bodybuilder may not recognize this and go into an immediate response of distress as a reaction to the unreasonably high expectations that are presented by magazine publishers and advertisers. Is the competition seeking money? Is no the goal in mind for them gold? For is a bodybuilder searches for understanding of what he is endeavoring:
"For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold."PROVERBS3:14
This will insure that he or she will set reasonable goals and to be able to make fair decisions regarding their progress and goals. They must understand what is true and logical, what is fair and just before they make themselves sick beyond cure with false dichotomies and false hopes.
Consider this statement from the Nutrition section :
"increase in extra cellular EAA concentrations triggers protein synthesis."
As far as I can understand, God has created things and is doing things that our eyes cannot see nor our ears cannot hear, yet they are there and we can believe and know, and some can even command, without seeing or hearing.
This is a foundation from which to build upon.
Re: A nutritional and bodybuilding guidepost
I think Frank Zane knew something that others ignored as far as meditation goes. I have thought about to what level we can feel a muscle grow and work alot. What can we feel?
