Tip of the Week: Out of Breath?
This weeks tip is brought to us by our Injury Expert Endless: [ QUOTE ] <font color="red"> Have any of you ever noticed that when you are winded, you will tend to put your hands on your hips, or head? Well, it turns out this is a learned response that increases the efficiency of respiration! When you're winded (from running, lifting, etc.) and you put your hands on something (your hips, your head, etc.) the muscles of your upper extremities relax, making it easier for your rib cage to expand, which lets you take in more air with each breath. Great tip! I didn't even realize that I put my hands on my hips when I am out of breath. Automatic response...
