No pain, but tendon \"pops\" back and forth under elbow.

I'll describe this the best I can, as I don't know what to call this tendon. It's right about where most people say thier "funny bone" is.

While doing a normal curling motion, the tendon that runs under the inside of my elbow joint "pops" from under the joint to the inside then back underneith. That is, half way through the concentric mortion of a curl, the tendon that is normally underneith towards the inside of my elbow will get hung up for a second on the inside "corner" of my elbow, then pop around to the inside. Of course, on the way down, it pops back.

It's been going on for some time now. No pain, but it distracts me like crazy as I think "that can't be good". It happens not only in curls, but bench, overhead press, etc. Any time I bend it, pop-pop, back and forth.

Diet is good; suppliment with flax when I don't eat fish. The right elbow doesn't do it, so I doubt it's diet. It just feels like it pops out of "track" and then back. I can put my hand underneith my elbow and feel it moving back and forth, popping from under the joint to the inside and back. If I push up on it at this time, and make it "pop" you can see it pop over the bone, shake the skin in that spot, and make everyone sick.

Should it concern me? Any idea what it is? What type of doctor would I even go see to get checked out?

Well from my experiences some times its bad...some times it isn't. Go see a physio if it's worrying you I guess

I know some people who had the same problem, most of the time, ice NSAID and rest helps some to decrease any inflammation. I do know one lady who had surgery to reposition the tendon because it started to put pressure on the nerve and she could not use her hand.
seeing an orthapedist who specialises in sports medicine may give you a good idea of exactly what to do.

I have no inflamation, no pain, so ice wouldn't be needed. It feels like it needs to be rerouted, yet really doesn't cause me any problems. Aside from distracting me while working out, and worrying that rubbing a tendon back and forth over a bone isn't good.

My brother had the same thing on one of his knuckles, he used to bite the top of his knuckle and one day the tendon just kinda snapped to one side and since then when he clenches his fist it pops over his knuckle to the other side and back.

Weird - I'm not sure if there is any problem with that physiologically but hes had that for a good 10 years now and hes had no problems (and I'm pretty sure he uses his hand every day)

But as I said, I've really got no idea if it is bad for you so go to the doctor if you aren't sure

nothing at all? No one?

It was good to hear that someone else has at least heard of this.

I can go in depth..I know about 6 people that experience this.

Me: Get it when I don't warm up properly - but does not cause pain
Friend 1/4/5/6: Gets it nomatter what only in their left elbow but does not affect them 1 bit after years/months of training
Friend 2: Tendon started to hurt - ultrasound/x-rays revealed nothing is wrong yet my friend cannot do any heavy extension work
Friend: 3: Causes discomfort - not neccesarily pain. He does all his exercises so he does not feel the 'pop' sensation and it works well for him.
