I have been working out for about 6 months with p90x and I have had great results. The 2 months, progress has been slow and i would like to know what I can do to take it up a notch or if there is something that I can adjust to try and keep the progress up. I understand that it will get harder but I just want to make sure that I am doing everything I can.
Here is a typical day of what I eat
8.45am - cereal with almond milk and possibly a fruit
11 am - 1 or 2 fruits depending on how hungry I feel (apples or bananas or both)
12.30 or 1 pm - Lunch, chicken breast, 1 serving of vegetables and 1.5 servings of carbs (usually rice as the company I work for provides this meal and I don't usually have much choice in terms of starches)
4pm - Another meal - chicken breast, 1 serving yam, 1-2 servings of vegetables
7.30 or 8.30 workout
Right after work out I have a post workout shake consisting of 1 serving of Optimum Nutrition whey and 1 serving of creatine served with water or almond milk
1hr after workout - Meal consisting of a chicken breast, 1 wrap and 1 serving of salad
Sometimes just before bed I will have some cheese and jam with 1/2 a wrap.
All in all my daily intake is about 2000-2100 calories.
I am wondering if my body has gotten used to the foods I eat and if I need to change it up. Here are some things I am thinking of.
1. Carb cycling: on weight days I will eat more starches/carbs on those days and eat less on cardio/non-weights days. I read somewhere also that it might make sense for 2-3 days to eat more greens and get my carbs from that and then for 3 days I eat starchy carbs such as yam etc. If i am not eating enough starches I seem to get headaches so I do not know if this is viable.
2. Post Workout shake: should I take this on non-weight days?
Thanks for the help!
take care.
