The much promised manuscript is finally out! It's free, too! Enjoy:

Congrats to the three of you!

I know what I'm reading tonight! =D
I think that yall had just yanked this material off of the site about the time that I joined. So I've been waiting my entire abcLife to find out the skinny on HMB.
Thanks!

I'm about half way through. Free time has been a little scarce this week.
I've got questions about dosage and frequency. But sounds like they will be addressed later in the manuscript.
Believe me, I know where to ask. =)
I did twist my tongue into saying beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate 20 times in a row. Now I can say it without a problem. ;-)

Great article. Good job on focusing a conclusion out of so many scattered studies.
Wow, I feel like we are still living in the stone ages. I figured that with our modern science that we would have had the ability to “see” chemical process happening in the body down on the molecular level, if not even the atomic level. I was surprised to read that such “wait and see” methods are still used such as checking blood levels & urine levels.
Very informative though overall. I know realize why there is calcium in my HMB. And why they recommend the dosage. That will help me be a better follower of using it now.
I was not aware of the mood altering affect of HMB. I have felt better lately. I figured it was just because I was back to lifting after a long break. But who knows? Maybe it’s the HMB.
I look forward to all of the future studies that need to be completed.

Fortunately we will be analyzing the molecular signature of HMBs effects in our skeletal muscle lab at fsu, including its effects on numerous growth factors involved in muscle tissue growth!
Awesome article.
Should HMB be cycled or can it be taken like gluatmine or creatine, just year-round?

You should take it according to the amount of muscular damage your body is experiencing. If you are not eliciting muscle damage, it's worthless. Unless you are taking it for health purposes (see article for when it may be applicable for health purposes).
Well, since I lift frequently, wouldn't that muscular damage be all the time? Forgive me, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do I have to be injured to take HMB?

Yup, whenever you are lifting hard-core that would be when to use it. If you take time off, or on on a taper, probably won't do much.

I would personally like to see a study on HMBs effects on detraining.
During detraining you have a significant loss of muscle tissue, so at this point it may be beneficial.
