From what it looks like, even the FDA acknowledges that products containing tiratricol can cause serious weight loss. But there is a wealth of information, of which I suggest you read. It looks like too much of the substance, supposedly found in this supp. though I couldn't get a definitive answer, can cause hypothyroidism.

In short thyroxine (or thyroid hormones, T3 and T4) will increase metabolic rate.

Thyroid hormone is released and controlled by the Hypothalamic-Pituitary Axis. It looks like this: TRH (Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone), triggers TSH (Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone), which then release Thyroid hormone (also known as thryoxine or T3 and T4). Thyroid hormone also must have iodine to be synthesized.

Hyperthyroidism can primarily come from 3 mechanisms: 1. A mutation with the TSH receptor to release more thyroid hormone, 2. A TSH tumor or antibodies on TSH which do not respond to negative feedback of thyroid hormone, thus releasing more thyroxine (this is called Graves Disease), and 3. A toxic adenoma which increase the release of thyroid hormone even with negative feedback to TSH.

So, increasing thyroxine release will increase metabolic rate and also increase oxygen consumption. I don't know the contents of Thyroactivator, but if it increases thyroid hormone release enough or can evade negative feedback to TSH metabolic rate will be significantly increased.

I have an excellent graph showing BMR to be increased for as long as 40 days in individuals who ate hamburgers with the thyroid gland left in. I just struggle with technology and can't insert it here, if anyone can explain to me how to do that I'll put it in this thread.
