Chromium Histidine is finally on the market. http://www.npiscience.com/chromulin/chromulin.html How long should a product like this be on the market before trying it? Any thoughts on the subject?

Good question . I am neither a nutritionist nor a student of physiology but this my take on it and if I am off base please someone set me straight.
Chromium and its importance in bodybuilding are discussed in several articles in this website. Quote from J. Wilson’ article

The Window of Opportunity

“Chromium increases insulin sensitivity and the lack there of will do the opposite! There is no RDA for chromium; however, most experts agree you need at least 200 mcg/day. A recent study, which showed positive results, used 1,000 mcg/day. Hard-working athletes want to make sure they get at least 400 mcg/day.”

Chromium supplements which have been available are chromium chloride, chromium nicotinate, chromium picolinate, high-chromium yeast, and chromium citrate.

Up until now, the most bio available form of chromium has been chromium picolinate. This link describes the bioavailability of the different forms of chromium http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20050416/food.asp

A study has shown that chromium picolinate may effect genetic material in lab animals (hamsters) , which although doesn’t necessarily translate to humans it is a concern to me. http://www.fasebj.org/cgi/content/abstract/9/15/1643

Chromium histidine has recently come on the market under the trade name Chromulin which claims to have twice the absorption ability as chromium picolinate.
