is the scoop wrong?
i recently invested in an electronic kitchen scale to help me measure out food in proper quantities. out of curiosity i decided to test out how accurate a scoop of champion nutrition vanilla protein is.
i consistently got results of 25g when i poured a scoop on the scales. the tub says 1 scoop = 32g. whats going on?? im using the red scoop that came in the tub.
can anyone else confirm this?
its not the scales, optimum weighs fine.
whats going on :S /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think the issue here is that all protein powders are distributed with a device that measures volume versus mass, and then does not describe how they achieve their specific mass.
Especially for how Champion is "clumpier" than ON I would say you definitely have to tamp down on the whey to get the appropriate mass described on the packaging. Whereas with ON since it is so granular it's easier to tell how much is in a scoop. Welcome to the accuracy of the world of digital scales my friend!

hmm.. maybe it's due to the air pockets between the whey powder.?
anyway, what i always do is scoop a heaped scoop, then flatten it using the side of the tub so that i get a flat scoop, removing as much air as possible.
do you mind weighing a compressed scoop for me.? cos i would really like to know how much i've been scooping all these years.
thanks.!

yep i thought that as well, my initial measurements were with as much powder packed in as i could get. kept weighing in at ~25/26g so its a little light /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
