my gf gets this wide eyed look when i take my suppliments. especially before bed time, i take like 5 pills. how much is too much? when i take it, i get a rough idea of what the upper limit is and havent gone over in any individual suppliment but i think im starting to push the number of suppliments i take. heres a list, and u guys tell me what your thoughts are.

*multivitamin

around 1g or less of following, broken up in 2 doses:
*vitamin c
*fish oil
*cosamine
*calcium
*magnesium

creatine
whey (currently), switching over to amino
casein

considering adding hmb

You are much better off not comparing yourself to anyone you know. Your supplementation is defifnitely conservative. I agree that everything is relative, but I'll give you some perspective...I consider whey, casein, dextrose, maltodextrin, multi-vit,multi-min, b-vit,c-vit, milk thistle, red yeast rice, greens powders, joint support, EAA/BCAA, EFA and other fish oil supplements as an integral part of a diet that I will follow for the rest of my life, not so much as supplements. You may think I'm crazy but I say you have nothing to be concerned about with your supps.

^ Agree! I don't really consider whey, Green Tea Extract or Multi-vits supplements either. They're things I could replace with every day foods, I just don't have the time/money to round out my diet well enough.

I think that number of supplements is unneccesary and not worth the money.
Whey, maltodextrin, dextrose, and fish oil are basically food. Taking a couple of those is good. A couple supplements on top of that is fine - definately take a multivitamin. Beyond that, I feel you reach a point of greatly diminishing returns. Paying 20% more on supplements to get .1% better performance is silly unless you're an elite competitor.
I take whey, maltodextrin, multivitamin, creatine, and a little vitamin C.

Hells Fire - I supplement for overall health as well as for bodybuilding benefit. I totally see where you are coming from, and from reading your journals and looking at your stats it appears you are not missing out on much. Different methods to reach the same goals I would say. I know I am not wasting my money as the only supps I use regularly are scientifically proven to work. In my mind, my money could not be better spent any better than in improving my health and athletic performance.

hells fire, yes sometimes i do feel like the supplement industry is having its way with me. ideally i would like to just eat healthy and not take any supplements, but i know my diet is far from ideal. it is def good to hear your point of view.

gmarchini, def know where you are coming from. its kind of ironic that many ppl invest more in their car than their own health. i dont need to be the ultimate bodybuilder but definitely to remain in top physical condition well in to old age.

hmm... perhaps I need to formulate a practical criteria in deciding on whether to include a supplement or not. for exercise routines, it was relatively easy to determine if one routine is effective over another. for supplements, its not so clear cut.

im not that great a bodybuilder either because im old. what i wouldnt give for my 15yr old abs again hehe...

with the exception of the stimulants, it looks fine. dont know much about stimulants and dont see the benefits of it.

to determine how much protein u need, find out your bf% which will then give you your lean body mass in lbs. multiply this by around 1.5, thats how many in grams of protein u need.

personally i prefer powered creatine so i can load up more in one serving, but thats just me. its good to see ppl taking care of their body earlier on.

i dont see anything wrong with what you are taking before bed. vitamin c has been known to wake me up though. like if drink a glass of oj or eat chewables. but if its just a pill that takes some time to absord i dont see the problem.

Haha i know exactly what your talking about, i have gotten alot of looks for the ammount of pills i take at meals.
i take
HMB
glucosamine
co-q10
multi
amino acid tab
omega 3-6-9
milk thistle
n-acetyl-cysteine
Yohimbe
Choline
Inositol
green tea extract
whey
creatine
st johns wort
1-NO
Alpha lipoic acid
and liv-52

I get weird looks all the time it comes with the cause and goal. Its kind of like telling someone that you take creatine, and they go "isn't that a steroid?"
