I read in Men's Health last night that studies (at John Hopkins I think) on its effects on people with a history of heart problems had to be cancelled because 6 people under supplementation died (with no deaths from those on the placebo).

Would it be ok to take preworkout by itself? I just bought some but haven't tried it yet. Haven't gone to the gym this week, which sucks, haven't been feeling good.
Just wondering if I should or should not take it before I open the bottle.

I've taken it before first thing in the morning, before workout and before bed at 2g each time and didn't see any noticable results. It's pretty cheap stuff.

I wonder if L-arginine was the direct result of the people dieing or if other factors were involved also. Could be entirely coincidental.

Could be.
Arginine and Orthinine are both known to help increase GH production. Orthinine on the other hand is generally hard to find and pricey, it is usually in complete amino acid pills but in very small dosages!
