Optimum Nutrition ZMA
3 Capsules
Zinc: 30mg
Magnesium: 450mg
Vitamin B6: 10.5mg

Its cheaper to buy your own ingredients and just consume those; I bought a premade solution because it was free for me (don't ask how please).

Anyways, i've been using it for a week now, corresponding with my bulk cycle. My pre-bed meal is 1 cup cottage cheese, 1 tbsp flax oil and some veggies, at 11:00 PM and I take ZMA at around 11:45, and fall asleep at midnight as I read a book (or JHR printouts /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif ).

Impressions:

The first 3 nights I used this were... interesting to say the least. On the first night, I took the supplement, then slid into bed reading George Orwell's "1984" for about 10 minutes. I then dozed off, but it was weird. I immediately started 'dreaming' that I was lying on my bed on my back, and my computer was playing the music from Morrowind really loud (my computer is right next to my bed, and I played 3-4 hours of the game that day). What was strange was I felt like I was chained to my bed. And the music kept playing and I wanted to turn it off, but I was practically glued down. I struggled to get up and finally I did - and woke up as well. I was sweating pretty heavily and looked at my clock - only 15 minutes since I went to sleep. Took me another 30 minutes to fall asleep again, I was tossing and turning.

The second night was a little better. But I had intense dreams again, tossing and turning a lot - and the next morning, I noticed my sheets were all wrinkled and pulled out by my restlessness.

Night 3 I had trouble falling asleep again. Took me about an hour to really sleep. And even then I didn't feel like I was asleep, it was like a half-awake state, my mind was running fast all night. I woke up pretty tired.

Every night after that was the complete opposite. I'd read my bedtime book and just die afterwards. My sleep has been very calm, essentially dreamless and it seems like I wake up in the same position I went to sleep in.

Thoughts:
I've noticed that, after the initial 3 days, I have been waking up very refreshed and a lot more energetic. Normally, I would wake up a little bit groggy even though I got my full 8 hours of sleep, but after ZMA I feel very good in the morning, almost hopping out of bed and ready to make breakfast. I really like going to sleep with it now, I feel like the 8 hours I always get are now much more effective.

As for muscle growth, I don't know yet. I just started the bulk so we'll see.

LOL yeah, I just love the dreams too. I think we should start a thread and exchange ZMA-induced dreams. I've had some pretty crazy ones.

The lastes was where I had a dream I was Magneto from the Xmen... lol... pretty crazy.

not to turn this into a zma-dream thread, but i had a pretty crazy one like 2 nights ago...apparently my bedroom had been placed in this old haunted house with like latin and greek written everywhere, creaking floorboards, cobwebs, candle-light hallways, the whole deal. i'd go downstairs and find my school classes were there. and then in the next room was my university gym. just like every aspect of my life in this one weird house lol

hmm you guys still had these wild dreams even after using the supplement for a while? are you sure they aren't just random vivid dreams that just happen once in a while?

My first week or so I had intense dreams, but they seem to have tapered off since then.

If I have had a long nap during the day or slept in that morning and expect to have a hard time falling asleep, I also take 3 mg time-release melatonin. The melatonin
gives me similarly vivid dreams.

yes that is my experience exactly. I still get the occasional vivid dream but its only as often as before I took ZMA.

It freaks me out, the dreams seem too real. Sometime they are awesome and i am really rich or something. And sometimes they are real creepy like my parents dying.

interesting review. Most of the ZMA I have taken is with testosterone supplement.

Its crazy when its like you can see your room with your eyes closed, and you cant move your body. Like an out of body experience.

One time, this happened, and a whole was punched through my wall from ancient egyptian skeletons. Then there was ancient writting on stone scrolling past the wall really fast. There were some really loud noises too.

I wonder if ZMA is a portal into another dimension, lol!

Last night I dreamed that I freaked out because I spent like $370 at GNC and forgot that if I'd just waited a week I could have gotten 20% off with my gold card. LOL!

Of course I took a melatonin supp as well as ZMA. I do the melatonin when I need to catch up on some ZZZ and go to bed a couple hours early.

haha I just ordered some myself, I am a little reluctant to take it, because I often have out of body experiences, and will have them about 100% of the time when I am sleep deprived, I won't get into stories, but they are very intense. Why does this mixture of 3 vitamins and minerals cause these effects?

so zma is zinc and magnesium huh, not being smart or anything by ho wdoes this effect dreams? as far as i can see, the supplement may boost anabolic hormones. Whats that got to do with dreams?

It's just the effect it causes in your body.

Start here:

Basically, Zinc is a needed mineral for the body to do a lot of things, including testosterone production. Insufficient ammounts of Zinc will mean your body can not do these as well as it normally would.

Personally, I believe this supplement works well for people who are Zinc Deficient to begin with, but does not work much at all if people are already getting a lot of Zinc.

I also beleive that the majority of people are Zinc Deficient.

PS, I think it is working for me so far, but it has only been about 1.5 weeks on it.

I've been doing the ZMA also, and I love it! I wake up so refreshed! I literally glance at my alarm clock and in about 20 seconds jump out of bed with 100% natural energy. The dreams are badass too. They are so vivid, when I wake up I feel like it actually happened. I would recommend ZMA to anyone that's bodybuilding. Anyone know if you're supposed to cycle on/off with it?
