Hey, I am doing the PWO with whey, dextrose/maltodextrin, but do I need to add sodium? I'm trying to keep sodium low to keep my blood pressure low.

What makes you think you need to add sodium?

I'm not saying you shouldn't, I'm just wondering where you are getting this information.

This is from the Window of Opportunity article:

"Phase one:

Immediately.

A combination of 50% of your carbs coming from Dextrose and 50 % of your carbs coming from Maltodextrin with the proper grams of hydrolyzed whey protein, along with the appropriate amount of water and sodium."

So then why are you asking, "but do I need to add sodium?" It should seem you already knew the answer to your question.

If you are worried about too much sodium, you need to change your diet.

MJR,

Why don't you add a little bit or RealSalt®? It is a natural sea salt and it has LESS Sodium that other salts !!! You will add minerals to it to boot !!

The purpose that sodium was in the original PWO recipe was to replace the electrolytes LOST during heavy sweating during the workouts.

If your sodium is too low, blood pressure will actually increase, bro. You should have at least 2 grams a day. Having it at the oppurtune times--such as post exercise--will only help your performance. Not to mention, it is vital for numerous other functions. Read my article here, Sodium. (http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/sodium.php)

Have at least 2 grams per day.
