Hey guys, as the title mentions, my grandfather just passed away at his nursing home. He had a long and wonderful life. Eight years ago he was diagnosed with Parkinson's and went downhill every year since.

Twelve hours prior to his passing, he was basically unresponsive. Eyes were shut, breathing really labored, but we knew he could hear us. I was able to spend ten minutes alone with him telling him all I had. It was beautiful.

We had a Chaplain come in and do some prayers. She said one verse, which I do not know what one....but was akin to "may God's light shine upon you". I lost it right there, the matching of scripture to the situation was awesome and powerful.

Anyways, as we all know, it doesnt matter how old a person is or whether you know they will die...it still hurts. While sharing such personal stuff on the internet is usually not my thing, this forum seems safe to do so, especially with the following question in mind:

I am looking for specific Bible versus that address the passing of a loved one.

I have already been through many of these death situations before, but this is the first one I have experienced as a Christian. With that said, I am really surging here with spirituality. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

My sympathies.

Jbagger-
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my grandmother this year and though painful, I know she is with God and that makes it so much better. Time heals all wounds.

1 Thessalonians 4:13:
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Ive done alot of funerals for my relatives. One thing i allways like to mention is. Passing from this world to the next should not be looked upon with sadness, It should be recieved with joy because it is a day of crowning. To take your place among the saints to be with Christ. To receive your mansion and walk the streets of gold! The long day of laboring is over it is time to recieve the wages of Love!

My prayers are with you. Rejoice in his Profit. /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
