what does the bible way about unclean meats?

I sort of stumbled onto this page
http://www.ucg.org/booklets/CU/

I was like, huh? we really arent supposed to eat certain meats? I thought that was just some hogwash or whatever ... Like most things the bible said were a sin the holy spirit gave me that bad feeling before I did them I believe. But the Holy Ghost totally missed me before I ate shrimp.

Shrimp is about the only thing on that unclean animal list that I would eat. The idea that eating shrimp is a sin seems so... I dont know, random.

Kokokolo,

I had to search that website where it came from. Are YOU part of that church movement?

I looked at their doctrines and I agreed with most of it EXCEPT for the military part where they FORBID their members from baring arms.

Gosh, HOW CAN YOU be a bodybuilder if you cannot bare your arms?

And yes, I am cutting back the amount of pork I eat. I was reading the Maker's Diet and it has me convinced that I should eat much less of it and I plan to avoid it.

The clean and unclean animals were stated before the Mosaic law.

However, the first Jerusalem council, the apostles decided that the only restriction on the gentiles were NOT TO EAT food sacrificed to idols and to avoid eating blood (no more morcillas for me, Spanish blood sausages).

So I believe that for gentiles, eating pork will NOT make you less of a Christian.

But for healthwise, I think it is wise for me to eat less of pork and shellfish. (and I love shrimps, and scallops and crab meat!).

Oh yes, shrimp is a scavenger animal and they eat anything...same thing with pigs.

Actually in certain areas in India, pigs are used as toilets. You go to bathroom, and the pigs below you eat what you excreted. Oink!

So, it is obvious what is a clean animal and what is an unclean animal.

heh so basically those rules dont apply to us anymore.

yah dont eat pork, because eating anything from a pig will make you unhealthy, all you have to do is look at a pig and know this. bacon and sausage.... YUCK

oh yeah and I get to eat shrimp !

Torah in the Old Testament was not really a book of RULES but a book of lifestyle.

Bodybuilders have certain lifestyle that sets them apart from the regular folks. They have a pattern of diet, pattern of habits that differ from others.

They do it because they have a specific goal.

I asked YOU if you were part of that church movement.

Same thing with the OT Kosher diet.

Are you doing it to please God who instituted it or are you trying to do it to gain God's favor or are you trying to do it to take care of the temple of God?

I learned that during the Middle Ages, the Jews still kept their distinct culture and diet following God's commandment and their emphasis in drinking clean "Living" water. They kept the sewage far from them and they kept their house clean and they did not have unclean animals in their home. They also took regular baths.

Compare that to the "Christians" who had sewage running right in front of their home, they had unclean animals in their home (pigs walking around in their kitchen), people rarely took bath, and they avoided having cats in their homes as they were animals for the witches.

Guess which group of people were affected most by the PLAGUE? (Bubonic Plague) during the dark ages?

no man, that site was just something I clicked on from a google ad, offering a free magazine and booklets. From what I saw the site looked like a plain bible/christian site. Didnt see anything resembling a cult off the bat.

They forbid members to carry guns and if they join military , they can only do desk jobs?

I am not saying they were a cult..

Sounds like 7th day adventist to me. Im pretty sure thats a cult.

" FACT SHEET

United Church of God, an International Association

A Brief History

The United Church of God, today active with congregations in more than 40 countries, began as a formal assembly in 1995. Doctrinal distinctives of the Church include the observance of a seventh-day Sabbath, a modern application of the ancient Hebrew Holy Day seasons (which Jesus also kept and which the Church believes are a literal representation of God's plan for humanity) and a firm belief that Jesus Christ will return to earth to institute a benevolent, world-encircling Kingdom of God.
"

I remember when I was checking out different churches I stopped by a 7th day adventist church. I wanted to check it out because the parking lot was full, I thought, "look here these people must really be on fire for God, look at how many people are worshiping during thier free time, ON A SATURDAY NO LESS "

before I went in I got his really bad feeling like I shouldnt go in, maybe Im just superstitous. It was really wierd inside, noone even seemed to notice me, or even make eye contact. There was a setup with tons of booklets there, most of them regarding end-time prophesy I grabbed a bunch and left, from what I read of them so far they are a works religion.I think, from what a booklet said you get salvation by
1. jesus
2. being a member of the organised 7th day adventist church
Im not certain, they are actually pretty confusing.

CULT
NOUN:

1.
1. A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.

I hope im not hurting anyone's feelings here, if anyone belongs to one of these churches. But I was once a member of the Mormon church and that belief pretty much got stomped on here, and that helped me. hey truth is always good
