1. Does fasting only apply to food? Can one fast on, say, exercise? I know that for me, giving up the time I have for workouts for a week has greater value than eating (five times) for a day. It's at these times that we are to substitute with prayer and the Word, correct?

2. Is fasting a smart thing to do if a person is recovering from an illness (cold)?

Thank you!

I would say that fasting (from food) is not at all a wise decision when fighting off, or recovering from a cold or sickness. You body's defenses rely on nourishment.
On the other hand, fasting from drugs, booze and smoking is a very wise decision, no matter the level of your health /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
