alright dawgs and dawgettes, I've always dreamed of having a nice thick vein down by bicep...I know its vascularity and it comes with BF%, but i have a pretty low BF and yet i can't get that nice looking vein down my arm, i have the shoulder vein, but it stops at the top of the bicep. Are there any exercises that can really focus on the great blood pump, or any things i may be doing wrong?

try the Yu Yevon method. Flex really hard inbetween sets, and I think running may help vascularity, but im not sure about that.

i run all the time which is annoying my warmup consists of 15 minutes of running with 5 minutes of sprinting intertwined...just something to get my heart rate up, i have fairly large bis for my size, and they do look somewhat cut, but are a little soft...i just think im doing something wrong cause im only 5'4 and i might not be working the entire bicep

i think the veins come with experience and bodyfat. i didn't have veins when i started weightlifting; but now 1yr+ later i have thick veins on my forearms and biceps when i workout. veins i never saw before when i just started.

my veins are just nasty, looks like i'm some kind of hardcore heroine addict, haha... it seems alot of my veins start to really come out when i do drop sets and get down to lower weight n just let it burn... btw, why do you want that?

I think veins just come with hard work. you consistently work hard so your body will be pumping more blood throughout your body. to do this your veins will have to dilate to carry more blood.

so you dont think i work hard dawg...come on man, i was sure it was genetic...and if ur a lucky boozwah that has nasty veins more power to ya...i was just asking for tips...and i dont think working harder is exactly the nicest thing to say dawg

Vascularity is increased when your body needs the blood, which is why it increases in a pump. The pump is when nutrient filled blood is rushed to the worked body part. It might be genetic

Well, sometimes the truth isn't the nicest thing. I believe working hard is the only way to get anywhere sometimes. I have two thick veins running down my biceps. I started to notice the 2nd vein about 2-3 months ago and I've been working out since I was like 13 or 14 years old.

I've got moderate bicep vains. You can see them all the time but not the way they are in that pic of Arnold up top.

But a couple days ago doing hammer curls, my entire arms exploded in veins like I've never seen before. It was very encouraging.

I bet you that Arnold has a pump going in that pic too.

i been lifting for a few years as well, my forearms are just meeeean. the hulk type (!@#$%^&*), but i only see the main big guy in my bicep, if im in a hard set at the gym, otherwise, never. you have to remeber arnold was probably pumped for that picture... i also maybe theorize that some people have more veins viewable just from doing something since being a kid that used that muscle, some sport or work or something, who knows... like they said , flex between sets, and pose whenever your at home and bored. it might help.

man i just noticed how old he looks in that pic. look at how hard his fist is clenched as well....it doesnt look like a relaxed pose

where the vein lies across the muscle is genetic, thus if it runs right across the top of the muscle belly, it is sure to be visible. Be sure to hit the brachialis and brachioradialis hard as well, with hammer curls, reverse curls, etc. That way whereever your vein may be hiding, it will get pushed up by the muscle belly. The static reps, concentric contractions between sets, etc will also help bring it out as well.

A smaller reason for this might also be that you have naturally low blood pressure. I wouldn't suggest taking anything to change that /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have kind of the same problem here. I've been working out strong for about 1 1/2 yrs now, and my forearms couldn't get any veinier...but my bicep veins can only be seen slightly when i'm in the gym. However, a few months ago, i couldn't see any veins in biceps. so it would seem they are coming around(slowly). I found that when i do wide grip curls it tends to show more for some reason, maybe that's just because of where my veins are located on my bicep.

good luck

Sup,

i think that particular vein is genetics, at least for me, because I don't have that one. that is the cephaline vein i believe, and it starts at the top of the forearm (the forearm muscle you work a lot when u do hammer curls) and goes up through bicep to shoulder). I have that vein at the forearm, but it decides to detour and wrap all the way aroudn to my tricep. I guess i have a discontinuous vein because at my shoulder i see it again, but it just goes around the bicep instead of along.

I have decently low body fat and i have veins in my shoudler, forearm, and like i said, the bicep, so i know that particular vein does not exist on me.

IMO the amount of vascularity which a individual has is down to both the way in which that individual trains and also genetics. Paul Dillet was born with the most freaky vasculatrity in his chest, training with weights just highlighted this by making these bigger and able to carry more blood, thus making them more visible where as another guy may not be born with that amount of 'veinage' but hard training (more importantly muscle grow) will emphasize the veins which you have. just keep on working hard and growing, the veins are a way of transporing nutrients to muscles, so if your muscles do not need nutrients there is no need for the veins, so just keep on top of your hard training.

its not bodyfat. think about Culter and Coleman and all of them. they ALWAYS have bigass veins, when they're cutting at 6%bf or bulking at 25%
