Spiritual food
For each meal you eat, read and meditate on a verse of the bible.
For most of us this will equate to many bible readings a day!
Even at work when I eat a meal, I will read a verse off my computer while I eat.
Feed both your outer and inner man this month with daily, multi-bible study! /forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I typically do a topic per day.
But there are a million ways to split this up.
Read my overreaching article, spiritual applictions, for more on how effective this method is.

Hey, speaking of food&god, do all of you say a blessing before you eat? and is it same one every day??? becuase ive been with diffrent people and somtimes they will say a diffrent blessing everyday, thanking god for all the good stuff etc, then sometimes at football pracitce, before out games we always say a blessing, and then a blessing that varys from game to game,(i feel really stupid because i cant rember what they are called), but then at my house, before dinner every night, we say a blessing thats sorta liek, god is great, god is good gives us lord our daily bread....theres more, but i cant rember it right now,...its crazy, ive said it everynight with my family sence i could talk, but i can only rember the entire thing when im saying it with my family...does tthat ever happen to yall?...and what blessings do yall say? if any?

Hey Mav!!!
This is the main reason we have blessed our food:
Exodus 23:25
The LORD, your God, you shall worship; then I will bless your food and drink, and I will remove all sickness from your midst;
Back then food could kill you so they obviously needed Gods help to not die from food poisoning and other malady's derived from eating.
I ask the Lord to remove anything that might make me ill. Or be bad for my Body. And i also ask him to help it build my body in a mannor pleasing in his sight. also i give thanks for the ability to make buy the food.
Matthew 26:26
14 15 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body."
Here we see Jesus blessing the food.
Mattew 14:19
and he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking 5 the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.
Here we see another example of blessing the food.
1Ti 4:4
For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
This shows you that Blessing food works.
Now is there a command to ask blessing on your food? Not so much a command as a presidence. But as Body Builders I would suggest that it would be beneficial for us to ask for blessings on our food because we a: dont want to get sick. B: would be very happy if any bad stuff that we ate such as fat, colestrol, and the bad stuff. Just move right on out! /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif c: We would want God to put to use the food we eat in the best way possible. and d: we want to give thanks that we have the means and ability to eat in a way thats helpful to our bodys.
So yes i ask blessings on my food all the time!
Hope this helps Mav!

Hey War, that was great explanation for blessing meals prior to consuming them. I am fairly new to Christianity and have never blessed my food before, but maybe I will start now.

Mav-
You can pray anytime you feel like it. Ask to bless your food, the task ahead, but pray any time you like. There's no right or wrong way to do it. Just converse with God, let him carry your burdons and let him rejoice with you in your good times. You'll soon find your life changing to the better.

Oh yes excelent point JB.
I even pray on car trips of loved ones, or myself. Before meetings. Just about anything thats not mundane. If you ask it in his name it will be done! /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My compliments to War and RNP, excellent answers. I believe we also pray becuase we know wiithout Gods/ help we wouldn't have anything to eat. As we ourselves feel good when someone thanks us for something, I think God also feels joy and happiness when we as his children thakn him for things he gives us daily and anytime! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
May God Bless always!

Ohh I forgot. I also Pray when I workout. I ask him to build the body he desighned. To take it to its full potential. Not to let it stay the way it is "because of my neglect.". And also for him to accept it as a living prayer and gift. I know this is the main reason i have had such good gains and weight loss... /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
God Bless....

exactly, we should pray without ceasing, no matter what we are doing. If you are a Christian, then everything you do should be to the glory of the Lord, so why would you not ask his blessing on your work which you are doing for his glory.
and like War, I started praying before and during workouts a few years ago. I noticed that it helped me focus on the workout, and within that, helped me realize that even the most basic things in our lives, such as a squat, are important to the Lord if we give it up to him.
So Mav, I know some people start praying with "oh Heavenly Father" and "thou" and such, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that, but if you stop during your day and say " Hey Lord" and begin opening your heart to Him, that is perfect as well

I guess since this is a discussion about prayer I would really like to applaud tarheelsykes. I know many people that feel you aren't really praying if you don't say 'Oh Heavenly Father' or use thou and other words from the Bible.
It's like God won't listen to you if you don't use fancy words. I have always been a firm believer that God listens to you any time you want to talk to him and many times you don't believe you are.
It doesn't matter when and where you pray. Whenever you feel you need to talk to God you should do it. I don't believe I do it enough. I know I don't.
