Last night at martial arts I injured my lower back I can't even bend over yet ... therefore I was thinking about modifying my back workout this week with just pull ups and pull downs etc I don't think there is anything I can do about the lower back

should I skip back rutine all together or you think I can go ahead with just pull ups etc ?

id get your back checked out by a doctor to make sure its nothing to bad. I hurt my back about a month ago and it has been niggling me ever since untill about 3 days ago when a bloke in my gym showed me the best exercise ever and I kid not after that my back feels great.

here is the exercise I used to fix the problem-

front lying chest lift

Lying face down, place your hands (palms down on the floor) next to and even with your chest.
Keeping your hips and thighs on the floor, lift your chest off the floor. Assisted slightly by your arms as you lift, your lower back muscles should be contracting.
Make sure the back of your head is in an even line with your spine -- don't tilt your head up or down.
Pause briefly when your arms are straight and then return to starting position.
Build up to three sets of eight to twelve repetitions, taking short breaks between each set.

Go to physio! lower back injury's can stuff you up for ages, and will keep on reacurring if you don't fix it right.

maybe do some hyper extensions for say 3 sets of 2 minutes, but don't push it.

Ah, the good ol' Cobra arch, very good stretch. Make sure to warm yourself up properly before doing that stretch to maximize it.
