Looking up the proper term, my sternoclavicular joint, where the clavical (collar bone) touches the sternum seems to be inflammed. I'm not quite sure what's done it. I notice a slight senstation when doing shoulder press, or if I do a front flat spread or a front abdominal pose I can feel the similar sensation and sometimes it hurts like a dull ache, just on it's own. If I pull my shoulders back to have good posture, that seems to fire it right up.

Any pointers on what I should do about it? Icing it seems to help a lot, so I think I'll keep that up. Should I take some aspirin and ibuprofen?

It's not interfering with my training, yet and I'm thinking I should go to a physio therapist about it. Any suggestions that way? thanks!

I'm not sure what it is, but I've had the same problem over the past week.
I've been sick so I haven't had a chance to get to the weight room recently, and once I stopped I noticed in the mornings when I wake up I have extreme collar bone pain.
When I wake up it feels as if the entire muscle complex around the front of my collar bone is 1 size too tight. I try and flex my chest forward and stretch it out and my collar bone litteraly left like I was going to snap it in two. After shower my collar bone felt much better, but for the past week I've had the same problem every time I wake up in the morning.
It's been my 5th day out of the gym and I only have minor strain in my collar bone. I have to really felx my chest forward my my shoulders down to feel the pain again.
Seems to be going away with time. When I go back to the gym again I'll see if it comes back after a chest exercise.
