Is there anythign I can do to speed up recovery for a sprained wrist.

It's probably been about 6 weeks now since I sprained it but I haven't taken much time off so I think it's slowing down recovery.

Is there any tricks to speed up rehab?

if you aren't taking time off, then of course you are hindering the recovery. Alow for it to heal then get back to it. I'm sure your lifts are being hindered by it being sore, so working out while it is still hurt isnt really benefiting you bodybuilding goals. So, let it heal then you can come back full force.

8 weeks off?!

What would I do with myself... /forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

But yes if it doesn't fully heal in the next two weeks I'll be forced to put myself on the I.R.

Gentle movements like rotating and moving your wrist from side to side in a whirl pool or a hot bath can help with your recovery. Also try to gently stretch your foreams in hot water and simple contractions of the forearm muscle will help. As your wrist recovers, try to slowly expose it to more and more resistance activities.

try small rehab exercises, that helped out my wrist injury heaps

aside from that, do lots of squats and ab related exercises /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I guess I should add that even 3 months and then some later, my wrist is still not entirely functional...if I could re-do everything, I would have completely stopped training anything upper body for that duration. Maybe then would I have a fully functional wrist right now

good luck dude

That's not encouraging. /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Mine has gotten much better tho, it's almost to the point where I can move my hand in any direction without pain.

I'm hoping to be at 100% in two weeks. **knocks on wood**

I know it's a bummer but hopefully you won't end up where I am right now...I think my sparse shoulder and chest days throughout the last 3 months was a little too counterproductive.

OH! It may feel like it's healed, but start off low weights high reps and gradually work your way up. Don't want all of that healing time wasted just because of the urge to lift!

Well I've actually been lifting pretty much the whole time.

When I first sprained it I just cut out arm and shoulder work. I kept doing things like bench for a couple weeks but thought it was slowing down my rehab so I just do fly movements for chest now. I can do most everything for back, the only time I ever really feel any pain is when I'm griping something very hard and twist my wrist a certain way.

Other than that the rehab is coming along quite nicely.
