Last friday .. I did something I should have never done. I lifted because I was mad. The end result .. I tore a muscle in my chest . The Dr. said to alllow this to heal about 5 days before I do anything . Do you think its OK to train other body parts .. IE. Legs or Arms ? I kinda feel like this is going to take alot longer than 5 days to heal ... any thoughts ?

Why not..Back, shoulders, arms, legs..just ease into sets that might incorporate using your chest and if it bothers you too much work another area.

It must be a very minor tear if the doctor only told you to let it heal for 5 days??????

What EXACTLY did he tell you? Becasue I've known more then a couple people that have had a torn pec, and let me tell you...they were in agony, and it took A LOT longer then 5 days to heal.

Thats where I have a problem .. the pain has moved from my chest to upper back and neck areas. The Dr I saw was a Drs Aid. I really dont think he knows squat .. I called them back about the pain and he prescribed a muscle relaxant called Skelaxin . After taking this for a day it hasnt done anything. Im thinking I may be out of commisssion for a few weeks ! This stinks !

I'd tell you to go see a doctor that specializes in sports injuries. If the pain is spreading to your upper back, you might have aggravated or torn your rotator cuff. Most normal medical doctors dont know squat when it comes to sports injuries so be sure to take care of that ASAP.

He probably diagnosed a sprain/strain.

I would just rest for 5 days. The chest is used in many of the exercises for delts, arms, etc as dynamic stabalizers.

It will heal faster with total rest.
