I sustained a minor ankle sprain over the weekend. It has now been almost 72 hours since the incident, and I'm getting around fine with the ACE bandage. Would there be any problem lifting tonight, if its chest/tris where I'm predominantly sitting?

I don't think there should be a problem...

Just keep tabs on your ankle; if it starts to hurt while doing a standing exercise, then move on to something else.

I have a feeling this thread going to be moved ----->

I'd tell you just to watch your standing movements and be extra careful if your carrying dumbells or anything like that.

I don't see an issue, but then again, my ankle could be dangling my foot like a thread and I'd still work out. If you're doing fine, go for it!,

but ps, what do you consider minor? is it still swollen or just tender? etc

Well... I just got back from the gym, everything is A... OK /forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nutmeg, I'm still using the ace bandage, but it's not swollen anymore and only slightly tender.

stop using the ace bandage... think of it as the weight belt principle, if the ankle heals itself relying on the ace bandage it will be weaker by itself because it will be used to that support.... just don't go weave-running around on uneven surfaces just yet...

Just a quick update... the range of motion in my ankle is back to normal, but it's still tender and slightly swollen, and a little stiff in the morning. However, I really want to get back to cardio. Should I wait longer to get back to the treadmill, and can I at least try the bike or other cardio machines?

Thanks!

Anyone? I suppose the stiffness is normal, the injury is not even 2 weeks old. I really want to get back to cardio though, what kinds can I do?

let the running alone and circle your foot around to loosen up your ankle throughot the day when you're not in the gym. Elliptical, stairmaster, bike, all things where your foot stays in constant contact with the pedal should be fine.
